Kids, is there something that you really want? Whether it’s a dog, a job or a summer camp, you have to ask your adult for permission. As a kid, you want to make your own decisions. The good news is, that is what adults want for you as well.
Are you tired of your parents saying no when you ask to go somewhere or do something? Does it lead to arguments and hurt feelings?
If you want permission to do things outside of your parents’ comfort zone, your best shot is to approach them in a responsible and respectful way. Before you meet with your parents to ask for something, you need a plan! Figure out:
- what you are asking for
- why you want to do it
- what they may not like about it
- why it’s good for them AND you!
