The Guide To Handle More And Feel It Less

What's
The
Lie?

That stress is poison. Does this sound familiar to you? “Stress is bad and bad for us!” We’ve been taught to fear stress—to avoid it, to minimize it, to eliminate it, to get away from it before it kills us. If you’re causing stress in someone’s life, you’re the villain. If someone is causing stress in your life, that relationship is toxic—get out! If you’re stressed, you’ll never be happy.

In my twenty years as a physician, I have absolutely seen the toll that stress takes on the human body and mind. The damage can be fatal. So how can it possibly be a lie? Because that idea—that stress is a poison and should be avoided at all costs—ignores reality and sets people up to fail.

In reality, all change brings stress. All change. Big change, like a new boss. Small change, like a cellphone upgrade. The change you hate, like a cancer diagnosis. The change you love, like a promotion. The change you predicted, like a child growing up and moving out. The change you could never have predicted, like a worldwide pandemic. All change brings stress, and every day brings change. If the only “cure” to the damage stress does to us is to avoid it, we’re all going to fail!

Well-being and success
are achieved through using stress and navigating change

Do you feel fatigued by the stresses you’re managing? Exhausted even? That’s totally understandable. You’re dealing with so much. You want to be able to handle this level of stress without feeling winded, tired, sore. This book is the guide you need on this journey.

Build connections

You are facing something alone, and it doesn’t have to be that way. Change is easier to navigate when you reach out to someone in your network for a little strength. Increase and use your connections.

Setting boundaries

You’re navigating something that is a challenge for you, but it’s even harder when you feel like you have to be the main support for so many others. Set some boundaries so that you can handle this the best way you can.

Managing discomfort

While you are facing a challenging situation you may find it gets harder because you’re using negative coping mechanisms like lashing out at others or not being able to enjoy things you normally do. Use a strategy to manage your discomfort while you are navigating what’s happening or waiting for the next step.
