Teach Kids to Have Friends

It’s OK to pee alone.

When our children are small, but not so small they can be stuck in a crib for 2 minutes, they often want to follow us everywhere. Every. Where. When – and how – is it OK to leave them to play for a minute and shut the bathroom door?

How can we

  • Encourage kids to stay with a sitter for a bit (or a lot)?
  • Let kids go play at a friend’s house?
  • Get kids to learn to cross the street alone?
  • Go for a sleepover?
  • Travel with friends?

Val Warner at ABC’s Windy City Live asked me all these things and more about kids and social lives. Come see what you think!
