Summer #Camp – How to Choose for Kids, Why to Work There for Teens

Summer camp?

Oh yes! There is no better choice for kids or young adults. Choosing a camp, getting ready for camp, going to camp, working at camp, staying in touch with friends made at camp… All of these are great for raising kids and teens into adults who will thrive.

What camp teaches:

Whether you’re considering day or overnight camp, specialty camp or run-around-outside camp, there are lessons to be learned that can’t be learned at school, or at home.

For teens and young adults, camp counseling is the best prep for real life and real work that they could ever find in a summer.

Kristine Sorensen asked me the hard questions.

  • How do you know if your child is ready?

  • Should you send your child with her friends?

  • What questions should you ask of the camp?

  • How can you know if it’s safe?

  • Why should teens be counselors?

  1. Nice short article. Do you have any place where you will be listing summer camps?

If so, can you list our wonderful gluten-free camp June 14-20?

Would you mind tweeting or sharing this wonderful camp on your site?

Here’s the info: Get your #Gluten Free #camp on! Kids 7-17 converge on @FlatRock River YMCA Camp from June 14-20, 2015 for an integrated gluten-free camp and a TON of Fun! Very easy drive from Chicago, Illinois, Indianapolis, Indiana, Cincinnati, OH and Louisville, Kentucky

    1. I don’t endorse particular camps or list them. Are you a member of ACA? I do recommend their camp finder tool to parents.

  2. Yes the camp is a member of ACA, but with a gluten-free camp it does not seem many parents search the site. Several of them receive the info by looking at camp articles and related sites and celiac organizations/gluten-free write ups.

    Thank you!
    Tina
