Hi!
Welcome to midsummer – and midwinter for my Southern hemisphere folks. Time for a quick check in.
Weeks ago many of you told me about a change you’re navigating or a change you want to make. The question at the beginning of this season was:
“What is one way you could make your activities more closely align with your priorities?”
For yourself, your work, your kids, your art, your faith, your home, your extended family – what is one change you can control in you behavior or your attitude or your purpose?
So I’m here to check in. How’s it going?
Research shows that most people do NOT remember a shift like this the first time they decide upon it. That’s ok. The first time is necessary for there to be a second time. Change requires not just dedication but rededication.
If you want to change something on purpose, you don’t decide once to do it. You decide over and over and over again. So, two questions:
- Is that change you named for yourself a month and a half ago still valuable to you? Is it still aligned with the person you want to be?
- When could you (re)start?
Tell someone. Tell me! And try again. It’s in rededication that we need perseverance. And it’s in rededication that we build the muscle of making positive change.
All my best,
Dr. G
