Are kids just born leaders?
Like any other talent, some children seem to be born with the ability to convince others to do what they suggest. That’s wonderful, as long as they use that power for good! What about kids with great ideas, who aren’t naturally intensely charismatic? We can teach them skills that will help them become the group, workplace, family and political leaders of their generation.
What skills does a leader need?
Respect – to be able to listen to others’ points of view and bring a diverse group together.
Responsibility – the work ethic to see a project to the finish.
Resilience – the ability to find and solve problems instead of giving up!
How old does a child have to be to learn?
These skills can be developed at every age, and often while parents are going about their usual work and play. Dr. G gives 3 activities parents can pursue with kids from preschool to teen, at home in an hour – or just a few minutes!
