Dr. G can make your next event or workshop unforgettable! She addresses that most fundamental of parenting questions: “How can I get the behavior I want from my children, without being a parent I hate?” In her very interactive workshop, parents will have the chance to learn new strategies to handle whatever behavior issues they face. Whether presenting to a dozen parents or 100+, Dr. G uses straight-talk with a twist of humor to give parents encouragement and tools they can use immediately as they strive to raise great kids. All participants can drop off questions confidentially before the event, to hear more sensitive issues addressed in full without feeling vulnerable in the group. Your members will be encouraged to follow up with Dr. G in the weeks following your event to continue report back on changes and continue the conversation!

End of summer means groans. From kids as they have to get up early and give up so much play and free time; from adults as they have to face homework, schedules and making lunches! The new school year brings quests for new independence from kids and new responsibilities from teachers, as well as the real possibility of emotional upheaval about friend issues. In this workshop, parents will identify opportunities for preparation and tools to lessen the impact of these changes on the family. Going back to school can be fun as well as exciting, and Dr. G helps parents make that happen.

Kids look forward to summer vacation for months! Often parents, with the pressures of a work year that doesn’t stop in June, added expenses and safety concerns, and months of unstructured time looming, do not share that enthusiasm. This workshop helps parents keep the fun in summer while identifying the obstacles and developing strategies to actually enjoy the time as well.

“If you could wave a magic wand at home, which behaviors would you change?” Parents will generate a list, and Dr. G will ensure that each participant leaves with strategies to fix the most pressing issue facing each parent, as well as skills to handle whatever their kids will think of next! Interactive and relaxed, parents will respond to the warmth of Dr. G’s seminar, finding comfort and encouragement, as well as accountability and resources. This practical workshop is Dr. G’s most popular session.

Want to entitlement-proof your kids? As children grow with all that their parents can provide, they appropriately ask for more. Often parents worry about making their children grateful for what they already have! In this workshop Dr. G will explore easy ways to involve children and teens in helping those in their community and beyond. The opportunities will deepen families’ connection to others and teach children that they can (and should) change the world!

In this workshop, Dr. G applies her straight-forward, practical approach (with a twist of humor) to dealing with the specific joys and stresses of parenting teens and young adults and getting them ready to move through this next phase of life. She will explore how to balance active parenting with helping young people to be out on their own, and encourage resilience in the face of adversity. Participants will leave with a list of specific tasks they can teach and the skills to impart lessons to children who don’t feel like they are children at all!

Do time-outs work for teenagers? What happens if your elementary schooler gets grounded? Is there a way to avoid the negativity of punishment and still shape character and behavior? Dr. G combines her knowledge of childhood development with parents’ knowledge of their kids to develop a toolbox for parents to use at each level. In this interactive workshop, parents will get feedback on every style of consequence they can imagine, and learn how to apply the right tool at the right time and age.

Every birthday and holiday season kids get stuff. Sometimes they love it, sometimes they complain, but most often parents worry about the message the stuff is sending. Dr. G discusses how to build gratitude and respect in children as they receive gifts and other fruits of their parents’ labor. Parents will discover opportunities to give their children and teens lifelong gifts along with the handheld presents they love.

From weddings to funerals, parents are often anxious about bringing children to these events. Visits to the hospital are often even more stressful and it’s easier to leave kids home. In this workshop, Dr. G problem solves with parents so that they will feel confident knowing when and how to share these important moments of grief or celebration with children. Perfect for faith organizations and school based groups, this discussion will teach parents to build resilient, respectful children who can handle tough situations in life.

Parents who make the decision to work from home often have very high expectations of their own ability to parent while working. Dr. G encourages parents to set boundaries that protect family time and allow work productivity and satisfaction. She will address the common problems of working from home, from talking on the phone for business while preparing lunch, to focusing on play time despite pressing business concerns, as well as responding to the attendees specific questions. Participants will gather the tools they need to lift the guilt out of juggling responsibilities.

In this workshop, Dr. Gilboa will speak with parents or educators about methods for raising children to be respectful and responsible.  She will discuss the behavior of children at ages from 2-18 (though this can be narrowed if the group would prefer) and give strategies for teaching these important values at different developmental stages.  With concrete examples and a lot of laughter, Dr. Gilboa helps parents and educators see the joy of instilling these values and the advantages of outlasting the difficult behavior.  Her goal, as always, is to help parents and communities raise children they can respect and admire.

When mothers take good care of themselves, their children will learn to do the same.  Too often women put their own health and happiness last on the to-do list.  Dr. Gilboa will discuss ways to adjust daily life to include a healthy outlook.  Moms will get suggestions about finding time for relaxation, exercise, even sex.  Learn how to make the most out of doctor’s appointments.  Find out what the doctor should be asking and checking, and what moms don’t have to worry about!

Please join Dr. G in this incredibly useful workshop for parents of kids with disabilities. How can you be caring about your child’s disability and still encourage their best behavior? How can you parent children with and without (or with different) disabilities in the same family in a way that seems fair to you and to them? Come explore the challenges and joys of raising kids with these particular challenges.  Get the encouragement and skills you need to keep joy in your day-to-day family life!

Few topics are as stressful for parents as sex, grief and drugs or alcohol. And few topics are as important for repeated conversations between parents and children. Dr. G will take the fear out of these issues, giving parents the words and tools they need to pass on their own values about these important matters to their children in small, age appropriate bites. Participants will have the opportunity to practice conversations, witness interactions and develop their own strategies!

Do you lament the attitude many young people display in our culture? College professors and employers and parents note with dismay the growing sense of entitlement they see in teens and young adults, this sense that they should get what they want without much effort, just because they want it! Dr. G has tools to make sure this attitude never takes hold. Parents, teachers and employers learn in this workshop the way to eliminate this mind-set in youngsters, or avoid it entirely!

How can we monitor and control our children as they use technology, especially since many of them know more about it than parents? Dr. G explores the terrific and the terrifying as it relates to kids and technology, and provides the tools parents need to take control of screens and communication. Participants will leave with the confidence to allow their children appropriate exposure and the skills to place boundaries on their family’s use of technology.
